Carlow GAA have confirmed that Pat Bennett is set to take over as senior hurling manager for the 2026 season, with the appointment now going forward for ratification.
In a statement shared on X, the county board said the former Waterford hurler brings “vast experience”, having previously served on senior management teams in Waterford, Wexford, Kerry and Antrim. Bennett also guided St Aidan’s Ferns to their first Wexford Senior Hurling Championship title in 2022.

Carlow GAA Chairperson Jim Bolger added that he wished “Pat, his Management Team and the players every success during his tenure.”
Pat also managed St Aidans Ferns to win their first ever Wexford Senior Hurling Championship in 2022.

Bennett is set to replace Tom Mullally, who stepped down last week after five years in charge, a period that included Carlow’s 2023 Joe McDonagh Cup success.

The Barrowsiders will open their 2026 campaign with a Walsh Cup fixture at home to Dublin in early January before competing in Division 1B of the National League and the Joe McDonagh Cup.
His full backroom team will be confirmed once the ratification process is complete.
