LATEST: Two candidates neck and neck in Carlow-Kilkenny

Votes being tallied at the count centre in Kilkenny

Two General Election candidates are currently battling head-to-head to top the poll amongst Carlow voters in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency.

So far, it has been predominantly Carlow ballot boxes opened and tallied, with the exception of some boxes in Graignamanagh and one in Ballyragget.

Sitting Fianna Fáil TD Jennifer Murnane O'Connor has so far amassed 4,029 first preference votes (according to tallies, yet to be verified), and Fine Gael's Catherine Callaghan has secured 3,819.
