Green Party TD for Carlow-Kilkenny, Malcolm Noonan, currently has some ground to make up in General Election 2024 in his bid to retain his seat in the Dáil.
The majority of Carlow ballot boxes have now been tallied and intense tallying has commenced on Kilkenny ballot boxes in the last hour.
Of the Kilkenny-based candidates, John McGuinness (FF) has amassed the highest number of first preference votes so far (according to tallies, yet to be verified) on 4366, followed by Peter 'Chap' Cleere (FF) on 2224, Natasha Newsome Drennan (SF) on 2052, David Fitzgerald (FG) on 2050 and Patricia Stephenson on 1685.

Noonan currently has 1228 first preference votes (according to tallies, yet to be verified) and will likely be hoping that the electorate in Kilkenny City (where the majority of ballot boxes have yet to be tallied) will keep him in the race.
