History making Carlow-Kilkenny TD says her election 'feels incredible'

Callaghan celebrating winning her seat

The first female Fine Gael TD in the history of the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency says that her election to Dáil Éireann 'feels incredible', adding that the result is 'heartening'.

Speaking to media after winning her seat, Callaghan stated that the result is 'testament to all the hard work of [her] canvassers'.

When asked about what might have went wrong with the Fine Gael strategy in Kilkenny (where both of her party colleagues Michael Doyle and David Fitzgerald fell short), Callaghan stated that it was a 'strange one' but that she remained focused on her own strategy.
