After a busy weekend at the count centre in Kilkenny for the Carlow/Kilkenny constituency at the General Election 2024, Carlow's Sinn Féin candidate, Áine Gladney Knox, who narrowly missed out on one of the final seats in the constituency has released a statement the morning after the night before.

It looked as though for awhile that Carlow may have made a huge jump receive three of the five seats on offer in the constituency but it was not to be as running mate, Natasha Newsome Drennan, secured a seat in the final count.

"Firstly , thanks to each and everyone of you who came out and voted for me on Friday . It wasn’t meant to be for me this time . Well done to my running mate Natasha on been elected . The dream for three Carlow TDs was nearly a reality for some time .
I want to thank my family and friends for all their support and encouragement over the last number of weeks .
Thanks to Tone Traynor cumann , Carlow Sinn Fein and everyone who came out and postered and canvassed with me .
We put in one hell of a campaign , the vote was massive but just fell short in the end . But , it’s not the end , I’ll dust myself off.
From the bottom of my heart to each and everyone who came out and voted and believed in me , I can never thank you all enough. Keep the faith , and I’ll be back."
