Widespread showers or longer spells of rain can be expected today (March 13), heavy in places with the chance of spot flooding.
That's according to Met Éireann, which also forecasts colder temperature by evening after a mild start.
Afternoon highs of 5 to 8 degrees in the north and 9 to 12 degrees in the south, with strong and gusty southwest winds veering northerly during the course of the day.
Tonight will be cold and blustery with clear spells and scattered wintry showers, with falls of snow in places.
Some showers will be heavy with hail and thunder.
Lowest temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees in fresh to strong northwest wind, with icy stretches developing on some untreated roads and paths.
