Full details of St Patrick's Day parades around Carlow released

Full details of parades, times and routes for around the county of Carlow have been released by Carlow Tourism. 

Ireland’s national feast day will celebrated throughout County Carlow with a series of parades in honour of St. Patrick, Ireland's patron saint.

Parades take place in Carlow, Graiguecullen, Bagenalstown, Ballon, Borris and Tullow.

The Carlow St Patrick's Day parade starts at 3pm and  will travel along Kennedy Avenue past the viewing stage at the Liberty Tree and proceed along Barrack Street and travel down Tullow Street and finally disperse along Castle Street.

To celebrate inclusion, this year there is a section of the parade route along Barrack Street set aside for sensory sensitivities and people are asked to lower their volume and no flashing lights allowed. Loads of activities around the parade.

Carlow Town: 3.pm – 4pm. Leaving Perry’s old car park & travelling along via kennedy St, Barrack St, Tullow St. and ending at Castle St. A variety of clubs groups societies, bands, defence force and charity associations are taking part in the St Patrick’s parade. The St Patricks Day Parade Grand Marshal is Professor Veronica Campbell, SETU.

Graiguecullen: 10.am – 10.30pm. Leaves Carlow town park at 11.am and travel to Graiguecullen Parish Church car park.

Bagenalstown: Bagenalstown St Patricks Day parade will start at 1.pm sharp at the McGrath hall. It will proceed along the Royal Oak Road, Station Road, Long Range, Regent Street, Main Street before finally finishing at the reviewing stand at Market Square.

Ballon: 3.30 – 4.30pm. Starts at the Land League gates on the Bunclody Road and travels along through the village of Ballon past the viewing stand and continues through the village to the Ballykealey Lane and turns and travels back up through the village.

Tullow: 2.pm. The parade in Tullow will begin at 2pm from the Dublin Road, with the man himself, St Patrick, leading the parade down through the town. There are some great prizes for floats and entrants in the parade, As well as the parade, the committee has organised numerous activities and entertainment on the day, aimed at keeping everyone happy. There’s face painting, a magician, a juggler and various ‘characters’ roaming through the crowd.

Killeshin: 9.20 am. Killeshin village will be a delight on St Patrick’s Day 2023 with the community’s St Patricks parade showing what it means to be Irish in the Carlow on this Lá Fhéile le Padráig 2023.

Graiguenamanagh: 11.30 am. Graiguenamanagh St Patrick’s Parade will kick off at 11.30am. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic day and there is still time to get involved just call 083 0203505 if you would like to register your float or walking group or volunteer your services. Graiguenamanagh St Patricks parade committee are delighted to announce the Durrow & District Pipe Band are headlining the Parade this year, in what promises to be a fantastic day for all the family.
