Calling all artists! Carlow council launches art-creation fund with grants of up to €5k

Carlow County Council has launched a brand-new initiative offering up to €5,000 worth of grants for the creation of art in Bagenalstown.

Bagenalstown Creative Places Seed Fund is funded by the Arts Council with the aim of creating socially engaged art projects for people of the town to enjoy.

The grant awards are divided into three categories, including 'Seed', 'Bud' and 'Bloom' which will cater for a range of projects of all sizes.

The categories and available grants include:

  • Seed: up to €500
  • Bud: up to €2500
  • Bloom: up to €5000

'Seed' may support the beginning stages of a new idea, 'Bud' might support the testing of new ideas, workshops, or artforms, while 'Bloom' is for fully formed projects with specific and planned directions the work will go in.

Any and all artists, makers and creative people working or residing in Bagenalstown and surrounding areas, or an individual or community group based in Bagenalstown, can apply.

Artists include people from fields such as theatre, literature, creative writing, music, dance, opera, film, circus and architecture.

Successful applicants are particularly encouraged to work with those who do not normally engage in the arts or communities who have limited access to the arts.

Applications, associated budget and supporting material must be sent as 1 PDF document and emailed to creativeplaces@carlowcoco.ie

Deadline for applications is Friday April 28 at 5pm.
