According to the Road Safety Authority's driver test estimation tool, learner drivers seeking a category 'B' test in Carlow could be waiting until March of next year to receive an invitation to book a test.
Assuming you join the waiting list today, the estimated earliest you can expect a test booking invitation is March 18, 2024 in Carlow.
Waiting times are similar nearby Clonmel (March 18, 2024), Portlaoise (April 15, 2024), Wexford (April 15, 2024) and Waterford (May 15, 2024).
However, wait times are significantly longer in Kilkenny. June 17, 2024 for the O'Loughlin Gaels GAA Club Test Centre and June 24, 2024 for the Government Buildings Test Centre.
The above dates are only estimates and the RSA cannot offer any guarantees due to external factors outside of their control, e.g. weather conditions or a tester becomes unavailable.
If you are employed by the HSE, a private hospital or the emergency services and need to drive as part of your job (not including commuting to your place of work) then the RSA may prioritise your application.
