Over one-hundred people arrested for drink driving in Carlow/Kilkenny so far this year
Over the period from the 1st January to 23rd August 2023, 103 arrests were made by the Kilkenny/Carlow Garda Division for incidents of drunk driving.
These incidents include cases of ‘Intoxicated Driving a Vehicle’ and ‘Intoxicated In Charge of a Vehicle’ where alcohol was a known intoxicant, as recorded on the Garda PULSE system.
The highest number of drunk driving arrests recorded in Kilkenny/Carlow in the last ten years occurred in 2017 when a total of 222 arrests were made over the course of the year.
