Sixty students from Carlow schools attend Student Council Training this week in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel. The training was organised by Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) and involved students from thirteen schools across Kilkenny and Carlow.
Students and their teachers from five Carlow schools attended the one-day course; Gaelcholaiste (Carlow Town), Colaiste Eoin (Hacketstown), Colaiste Aindriu (Bagenalstown), Borris Vocational School, and Tyndall College.
The training day was aimed at making the students voices heard so they can make meaningful contributions to decision-making. The day highlighted the role and responsibilities of Student Councils and equipped the students with the skills required to take an active part in their councils. The students were encouraged to learn from each other as they worked in groups with students from other schools in designated workshops.
Training was provided by facilitator Denise Kelly and the day was overseen by KCETB Director of Schools, Dr Pauline Egan.
