Overall cost of the agreed payments reaches more the €1.2bn

A agreement on dates for extra social welfare payments and energy credits is expected to be announced by the Government later today.

The payments that were included in last week's Budget as part of the cost of living package will see every household automatically get a €150 credit for its electricity bill on December 1 and again on January 1 and March 1 next year.

Lump sum welfare payments can be expected on the week beginning Monday November 20, which will include the €300 Fuel Allowance top-up, the €400 Working Family Payment and the €400 Disability Support Grant.

The €200 support for people on the Living Alone Allowance, the €100 Qualified Child Benefit and the €400 Carer's Support Grant are set to be paid on the week starting November 27.

The Christmas bonus is expected on the week beginning December 4 with a double Child Benefit issued on the same week.

The week beginning January 29 will see a double payment for pensioners and those on a weekly welfare payment.
