Carlow County Council boosts 2024 Budget by €10.58 million prioritizing public services

On Friday 24th November, Carlow County Council unveiled their €77.76 million Budget for 2024. This marked a €10.58 million increase from 2023. The new budget prioritizing public services and community development.

Andrea Dalton, Cathaoirleach for Carlow County Council, said “I welcome the 2024 budget increases with the particular emphasis on customer facing services, community supports and enhancing the public realm including a higher standard of maintenance of parks, open spaces, and street cleaning. I also acknowledge the increased funding from Central Government”.

Coilín O Reilly, Chief Executive for Carlow County Council, commented on the budget; “The adoption of the annual budget is a vital component in keeping the Council on a firm financial footing. Carlow is facing many challenges in 2024 including demands for enhanced and expanded services, unprecedented levels of building cost inflation and energy costs. There is also a requirement to raise match funding locally for schemes such as urban regeneration, library development, the development of community and recreation facilities and climate action”.
