A 'completely emaciated' dog has just come under the care of Carlow/Kilkenny Dog Shelter.

According to the shelter, he was found in Kilkenny, is not microchipped and is 'so thin he can barely stand'.

His legs and chest are covered in pressure sores and he is crawling in fleas.

"This is a welfare case and the relevant authorities have been notified," the shelter added.

"If any rescue can help us get this poor dog into a foster home we would be very grateful."
