Detective Unit are investigating the burglary of two licensed firearms from Carlow home
Carlow Gardaí are investigating a burglary of house in Palatine Village which occurred on Saturday 30th December 2023 between 11am and 11.30am.
The homeowner returned home to discover their house had been broken into.
Entry was made by the perpetrators via the front door which had been forced open and damaged.
The house was ransacked.
The gun safe was forced open and two licensed firearms and ammunition were stolen - a bolt action rifle and an under & over shotgun.
A dark coloured saloon type car was seen acting suspiciously in the village around that time. There were approximately three or four males in this car.
Carlow Detective Unit are investigating this crime and are appealing for any witnesses to any suspicious activity in the village between 11am and 11.30am or any CCTV, dashcam footage, to contact them on 059 9136620.
Consequently, Sgt. Egan is asking all firearm holders to self-check the security and storage of their firearm and ammunition at this time in light of a recent increase in this type of crime.
