Carlow man accused of dragging woman to ground at Portlaoise Train Station

A woman was allegedly grabbed by the neck and dragged to the ground at Portlaoise Train Station. 

David Quigley, 31, of 40 Browneshill Rise, Browneshill Road, Carlow is accused of assault, intoxication and threatening and abusive behaviour at Portlaoise Train Station on October 4 last. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai responded to a report from the train station on the date in question.

Sgt Kirby said it was alleged that “a male wearing a black hood grabbed a female by the neck and dragged her to the ground.”

Gardai arrived and identified a man who appeared to be “intoxicated and aggressive to the female”, he said. 

Responding gardai noticed red marks on the woman’s neck but she refused to make a statement, Sgt Kirby said. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick requested disclosure in the case, including any video footage. 

Judge Cephas Power adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on March 4.
