RIP: 'A gentleman' Tributes paid to popular Carlow who died in his home

RIP Paddy Delaney

Tributes have poured in for Carlow man Patrick (Paddy) Delaney who sadly passed away recently.

Paddy has been remembered by many as a gentleman who will be greatly missed in his community.

He was from Craan in Leighlinbridge and died peacefully on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, in his home.

Paddy is greatly missed by his loving brothers, Danny and Liam, as well as his nephews and nieces, Kealan, Ciara, Deirdre, Una, William, and P.J., and his grand-nephews and nieces, sisters in law Lena, Rena, and Phyllis, along with cousins, good friends, and neighbours, especially Ned and Catherine Hogan.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Reposing in Somers Funeral Home Bagenalstown (R21 DY66) on Tuesday from 3.pm. Concluding with Funeral Prayers at 7 pm.

Funeral Mass for Paddy will take place on Wednesday Morning at 11.am in St. Lazerian's Church Leighlinbridge, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie for PDDY, with one mourner writing,

"My Deepest Condolences to the Delaney Family on the passing of Your Loved One Paddy.
Rest in Peace and Light Paddy."

Another message said, "I'm so sorry to hear about paddy.. I only knew him through working in the deli in Maxol in Carlow. He was a gentleman. May he rest in peace."

"Deepest sympathy to all the Delaney family on the loss of paddy a true gentleman may he rest in peace with Bill, nan, Dec, Pat, Annmarie and mammy, they are all together again," another person said.
