RIP: 'A shining light'- Tributes paid to popular Carlow woman loved by many

RIP Nora Hickey

Tributes have been paid to a well-known and loved woman from Carlow Nora Hickey (née Mullhall).

Nora was from Ballinvalley in Carlow and formerly 3 Watergate Kilkenny and Tipperary.

She sadly died unexpectedly on 5th October at St Lukes Hospital Kilkenny.

Nora was the beloved wife of John and loving mother to Joe, Michael, Brid, Patrick, Eoin, and Margaret, beloved sister of John and Mary (Ryan). Nora will be sadly missed by John, her children, grandchildren Johanna-Leni, Sadhbh, and Shay, daughters in law Lisa and Marleigh, brothers in law Michael and Seamus, sisters in law Margaret, Siobhan, and Mary, nephews, nieces, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Reposing at Joyce's Funeral Home Borris from 1.30pm on Wednesday with funeral prayers at 6pm.

Funeral to arrive at the Sacred Heart Church Borris for church prayers at 7pm.

Requiem Mass at 11am on Thursday followed by burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Borris.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Nora, with one mourner writing,

"Our deepest sympathies to John Margaret Siobhain and all Nora's family & relations. We have so many great memories to cherish of many visits to Kyle sorry to hear of Nora sudden passing, may her gentle soul rest in peace and our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time".

Another message said, "My deepest sympathy to John, family and friends on the sad loss of Nora. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Nora earlier this year and what an impression she made! She stood out as a shining light who infected everyone in her path with her positivity and love for life. May she now Rest in Peace. Go raibh leaba agat Nora i measc na Naomh".

"It’s with a heavy heart I’m writing this Nora since you have moved down to Ballinvalley 2002/03 you always had the warmest of welcomes not matter what day off the week or hour of the day always in the best of form. I’m so very happy to have known you. Thank you for all the good times. To John Micheal Patrick Eoin Joe Brid and Maggie we offer our deepest condolences to you all. May the light off heaven shine bright on you Nora," another person said.
