Carlow/Kilkenny dog shelter have shared a heart warming story to their Facebook page of an elderly dog who has had a rough week in their care but has now found a new home.
Shilvers, who is 12 years old, was surrendered into care as her family no longer had time for her, the shelter said.
"Se didn’t eat for two  days and just took to her bed, she broke our hearts....we would sit with her but she just wanted to go home".
"Shivers week was about to get a whole lot better when Katie and Evan came to meet her and they took her home. Her first day was like she had always been there, loves her food, walks and outings, even Kiff the rescue cat.
"Katie and Evan we can’t thank you enough for choosing to adopt not just a shelter dog but an oldie shelter dog, we know in your care she will thrive and have the best time. Have a great life Shivers you so deserve it".
