“Events like Streetfest and the National Cairn Community Games Finals do more than bring joy and community pride – they also bring tangible economic benefit to the local economy. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Carlow's commercial life, and increased footfall, visibility, and spending during such national events provide a valuable boost. It’s vital we continue to champion these businesses, not just during festivals, but all year round. Competitions like this help remind people that every euro spent locally strengthens our towns and supports local jobs. I extend my congratulations to all the winners and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who entered and supported the Shop Local message.”
Linda Culleton, Economic Development Officer with Carlow County Council, added:
“The National Cairn Community Games Finals brought thousands of people to Carlow, and our local businesses rose to the occasion – showcasing the quality, service, and vibrancy that makes Carlow a special place to shop, dine, and stay. Initiatives like the Shop Local competition are about reinforcing the connection between local pride and economic sustainability. For SMEs our Shop Local Shop Carlow campaigns in association with Carlow Tourism & Carlow Chamber are not just feel-good promotions – they’re essential tools that help drive visibility, engagement, and ultimately, revenue. We’re committed to continuing this work to ensure that Carlow’s local economy continues to thrive.”
Carlow County Council wishes to thank everyone who entered and supported the Shop Local, Shop Carlow message throughout the Streetfest celebration.
