Project that will 'improve the quality of life' for those living in Carlow receives government funding
A project of '"immense importance" will see an improved quality of life for those living in Carlow Town.
The government's Transport Sectoral Plan has been published, outlining the funding being provided for road infrastructure projects across the South East.
In Carlow, the funding will be provided for a project on the Southern Relief Road.
It will see heavy traffic diverted, congestion in the town centre reduced, and an increased quality of life for residents, according to Fianna Fáil TD, John McGuinness.
He added that it will add to the vitality of local businesses as well.
"The government is not just making promises; it is outlining a concrete, costed, and time-bound plan for delivery. This is a landmark day for infrastructure in our region," he said.

"The Carlow Southern Relief Road is a game-changer for the town itself. It will fundamentally transform the daily experience of those who live, work, and shop in Carlow," Deputy McGuinness added.
He noted that the Plan’s focus on a pipeline of projects ensures that planning and design work for future phases of the National Development Plan will continue, providing long-term strategic vision beyond 2030.
