RIP: 'Lovely memories of her'- Tributes paid to Carlow Sister of Brigidine Convent

Messages have poured in following the passing of a Carlow lady who will be sorely missed by many people.

Sr. Beatrice Lakes was of the Brigidine Convent in Tullow, Carlow and Signa-Care Nursing Home, Killerig.

She passed away on the 30th of November, 2025 in the loving care of the staff in Suir Ward, St. Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.

Pre-deceased by her parents John and Bridget, sisters Mary Farrell and Josie Flynn, brothers Thomas and Johnny, niece Josephine Coleman and nephew Johnnie Lakes.

Sadly missed by her nieces Bernadette, Catherine, Beatrice, Carmel and Josie, nephews William, John, Liam and Vincent, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family, the Brigidine Community and many friends.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Reposing in Brigidine Convent, Tullow on Tuesday 2nd December from 4pm, concluding with prayers at 7pm. Removal will take place on Wednesday at 10.45am to arrive for Funeral Mass in Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Tullow at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Tullow.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Eileen, with one mourner writing,

"It was always a pleasure when Auntie Beatrice visited us or we called into the convent to visit her. Lovely memories of her and her sister Josie coming on holidays with us, of me and my sisters bringing our children to visit Sr. Beatrice in the convent. Such a gentle, peaceful lady always, may she rest in peace".

Another message said, "Sincere condolences to the Lakes and extended family together with our lifelong friends in the Brigidine community on your painful loss. May Sr Beatrice rest in eternal peace, reunited with her predeceased loved ones and may God console those mourning their loss. RIP Sr Beatrice".
