Carlow County Council has made a safety alert to urge people to be cautious and remain vigilant during Storm Bram.
Met Éireann has upgraded and extended its weather warnings, as of Tuesday December 9, warning that Storm Bram is set to batter most of the country over the coming hours.
The forecaster has extended its status orange wind alert to every county in Ireland and this will be valid from between 3am and 9pm on Tuesday December 9.
Met Éireann says Storm Bram will bring very strong to gale force southerly winds with severe gusts and that potential impacts include flooding of low-lying coastal areas, especially during high tide, wave overtopping, difficult travel conditions, debris and power outages. Some outdoor events may also be impacted.
Carlow County Council said that in addition to the above potential impacts the public is advised to stay clear of waterways in Carlow, particularly elevated river levels and embankments which may pose additional hazards during this period of time.
"Also, please ensure outdoor items and festive decorations are secure and check any local event that you may be attending has not been cancelled or postponed. Please adjust your driving to local conditions".

The County Council has urged road users and pedestrians to pay particular attention to any fallen trees, fallen wires and/or service carrying poles e.g. ESB.
"Always stay safe and stay clear of electricity lines and wires as these are live and therefore dangerous. You can report any damage to ESB Networks by contacting our emergency phone number: 1800 372 999/021 238 2410 (24 hours/7 days)".
