Witnesses to fatal crash in Carlow involving woman in her 80s asked to come forward

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision at Myshall village, Co. Carlow, which occurred today, Monday 8th December 2025.

Shortly before 5.30pm Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a car and a pedestrian.

The female pedestrian, aged in her 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The coroner has been notified and the woman’s body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

No other injuries were reported.

The scene is being held pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm on Monday, 8th December 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing.
