An elderly lady who was tragically killed in a road accident in Carlow has been named as Philippa Bayliss, an internationally renowned artist.
Philippa was from Myshall, Carlow and formerly Ardclough in Kildare and died on December 8th 2025 after she was tragically hit by a car.
Funeral arrangements have been made for Philippa who's death has shocked and saddened many people in her local community.
Funeral mass will be held at 11am Monday 15th December at the Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Myshall, Co. Carlow.
Followed by burial at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Lorum near Ballinkillen.
Philippa was the daughter of Capt HTT Bayliss RN and Patricia née Loftus of Mount Loftus, Goresbridge, Co. Kilkenny and she was predeceased by her former husband, the late William Garner.

She will be dearly missed by her loving children Nicholas, Temple and James, daughters-in-law Susan, Sandra and Charlotte, her adored grandchildren Padraig, Jonah, Henry, Amelia, Daniel, Lucy, Oliver and Benedict, brother Jack and sister Veronica, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Philippa, with one mourner writing,
"How tragic that Philippa’s days ended in such a violent manner when she, and the life she lived, were imbued in the calm and beauty of gardens and their flowers, rural landscapes and their fields and hedgerows, and her scenes of life at home. Our deepest sympathy to all her family members".
Another message said, "Dear Phillipa, Your death has come as a great shock and we will miss you very much. Your dedication to art for over 50 years. Also, your conversation and your gardens which helped greatly in the in the creation of your paintings.
Our most sincere condolences to the family, Nicholas Temple and James their children and also her brother and sister together with her extensive wider family and friends. RIP".
"Deepest sympathy to Philippa's family and friends on her sad passing. Fond memories of her time in Ardclogh when we were both newly married with young children which Philippa painted with their ponies, and dogs. It was a magical time in the sixties. A lovely lady and neighbour and much missed. May Philippa Rest in Peace," another person said.
