The Woodford Dolmen Hotel in Carlow has sought planning permission for a major revamp of the building while also making a slight change to its name.
Planning permission has been sought to demolish a two-storey section of the hotel, two stairwells, and the arch gateway to the South of the hotel.
A three-storey extension with 42 rooms and a leisure centre, gym, spa, treatment rooms, changing rooms, a café/reception area, and function/meeting rooms would replace it, if permission is granted.
A proposed roof garden and terrace area has also been mentioned in the application along with a revised layout for the car park.

The upgraded car park would feature 192 standard spaces, 14 accessible spaces, four electric vehicle charging spaces, 48 ducted electric vehicle charging spaces, and three bus set-down areas.
Some changes to the inside of the hotel would need to be made as well in order to facilitate the proposed development.
The hotel has also legally changed its name to 'The Woodford Dolmen Hotel Limited.'
The application was submitted to Carlow County Council on December 10th and a decision will be made by mid-February.
Anybody opposed to the changes can make submissions to the Council up until January 22nd.
