20 Carlow schools to receive funding for new pilot programme being launched
A pilot scheme on wellbeing will be rolled out in 20 Carlow primary schools at the beginning of the next academic year.
The schools will receive a €2,000 Wellbeing Grant to support the 'Counselling and Mental Health' pilot programmes.
The grant will be used to support schools in implementing wellbeing-focused initiatives.
Developing wellbeing gardens, purchasing sensory regulation equipment, and running a Wellbeing Ambassador programme are just a few ways that the grant could be used.

Fianna Fáil TD for Carlow–Kilkenny, Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere has welcomed the roll-out of the pilot Wellbeing Grant Scheme.
"This is a very positive and practical measure that will directly support the wellbeing of children in our local schools. Schools know their communities best, and this funding will allow them to put initiatives in place that respond to the specific needs of their pupils," he said.
"These newly established teams are providing valuable psycho-educational support to parents and teachers, as well as early intervention for children with mild or emerging needs. Early support is critical, and this pilot is helping schools to address challenges before they escalate," Deputy Cleere added.
The schools that will receive the funding are Fr. Cullen Memorial National School, Bishop Foley Memorial School Boys Senior School, Bennekerry National School, Ballinabranna Mixed National School, S N Muire Gan Smal, Scoil Nais Iosef Naofa, S N Ceatharlach, St Laserian's Special School, Holy Family National School, Gaelscoil Eoghain Uí Thuairisc, S N Naomh Fhiach, Carlow Educate Together National School, Our Lady's National School, Newtown Dunleckney Mixed, Scoil Nais Molaise, St. Bridget’s Monastery Boys Senior School, Baile an Chuilinn National School, St Mary’s National School, Queen of Universe National School, and St. Laserians Mixed National School.
