A planning application has been submitted to Carlow County Council for the construction of 13 new houses in Hacketstown.

An application was submitted by John Connolly on January 15th for a residential development in Eagle's Hill.

It would consist of four four-bedroom deatched dormer homes, four three-bedroom detached bungalow/dormer homes, and five three-bedroom detached bungalows.

With the three-bedroom bungalow/dormer homes, there will be an option to convert the attic into a fourth bedroom.

Planning has also been requested for roads through the estate, footpaths, a public open space, and a pedestrian/cycle link between the estate and the Eagle Hill Road.

Permission for all site services, landscaping, and boundary treatment has also been requested.

A decision from Carlow County Council is due on Thursday, February 12th.

The Department of Housing made a submission regarding the application and in it requested that an Archaelogical Impact Assessment be carried out.

"It is possible that previously unrecorded subsurface archaeological remains may be disturbed during the course of groundworks required for the development," the submission stated.

The Department advises that the Assessment be reviewed by the Planning Authority ahead of making a decision.
