The Carlow Town Park run group has made a special shout out to one of their members who completed a huge milestone recently.
Martin Phelan who is 87 years old, completed his 200th parkrun on the weekend last.
The club said: "Martin, in his 88th year is an absolute legend at Carlow Town parkrun, an inspirational man with a great sense of humour who brings a smile to everyone's face. He was joined by his family and friends this morning to help celebrate this great milestone.
"Well done Martin from all your friends at Carlow Town parkrun and the Carlow community".
Many people have congratulated Martin on completing his milestone, those who are in awe of his determination and spirit and who love seeing him at the park runs.
Martin's daughter commented, "So proud to call this man my Dad. He is an inspiration to us all and puts the rest of us to shame. I would like to thank all his Parkrun family who look after him so well every week. Congratulations Dad and well done, we love you".
Another person said: "Ah Martin you are some man for one man! Great to see you there every week with a smile and a word for everyone. Massive congrats".
