A suspected bout of fly-tipping - where as many as four shopping trolleys and a traffic cone were dumped in the River Burren in the heart of Carlow Town - were placed in the river by a local volunteer to highlight the illegal dumping of trolleys in the river.
The volunteer spends hours every week cleaning up around the River Burren and he arranged the trolleys on the weir to highlight the dumping - which is occurring on a regular basis.
