The machine carrying out works on the Barrow in Carlow Town recently
A strange looking machine - which looked like a floating digger - was seen making its way across the River Barrow in Carlow Town on Monday and the Council have now responded to its presence on the waterway.
In a statement, Carlow County Council said: "The machine belongs to Waterways Ireland/OPW who have responsibility for navigable rivers.
"The purpose of it being moored in Carlow is unknown.
"You can contact them direct for further information."
Waterways Ireland have been contacted for comment.
