Carlow senator's office 'flooded' with calls after sale of mortgages to a vulture fund

The mortgage holders are 'baffled' by the sale

A local Carlow senator says her office "has been flooded" with calls from people whose mortgages were in the Permanent TSB sale of 7,400 family home mortgages to Start Mortgages, owned by US vulture fund Lone Star.

Senator Jennifer Murnane O'Connor said: "My office has been flooded with calls from people who were paying their mortgage and are baffled by their inclusion in this sale to vulture funds, someone needs to answer our questions it is not okay to be so silent on the issue...Fine Gael are too quiet for these concerned citizens."

Last month, the bank sold its controversial Project Glas loan portfolio to an affiliate of the so-called vulture fund Lone Star for around €1.3 billion.
