Images posted online by a volunteer who cleans up the rivers around Carlow has caused a furore online.
The pictures (one of which is pictured above) reveal the extent of fly-tipping in the county's waterways with the latest raft of junk coming from around the Lemongrass Bridge in the heart of Carlow Town.
Local man Eugene Walsh said: "Got this litter from the river and river bank. Cut a lot of low hanging trees, took ivy off the wall and picked drink cans."
Another image (pictured below) shows the amount of litter another volunteer picked up on the Barrow walks.
People have been outraged by the pictures and the extent of the fly-tipping with calls for more CCTV to catch the litter louts.
Eugene has also highlighted the number of abandoned trolleys around the town and he says there are as many as 22 just left abandoned.
Below are some trolleys he left on display "for all to see at the front gate" of Fairgreen Shopping Centre.
