Community Text Alert for Nurney

A Community Text Alert in Nurney could be up and running by the first week of October.

The challenge now is getting people to sign-up to the alerts. Nurney could either be set up on its own or join an existing group.

Community Text Alert signs will also have to be installed in the area.

There was a good turn out at a recent meeting about the initiative and there was positive reaction from local residents.

Gary Phelan, one of the organisers, said: "Things are going great, we had about 50 people at the meeting and we're hoping to have a registration meeting in the middle of September.

"We're hoping to set up our own group but it'll depend on how many people we get involved in it."
