LISTEN: Angie Ray 'overwhelmed' by support for her daughter during homecoming

The mother of Carlow Rose Shauna Ray Lacey, Angie Ray, is inspirational in her own right and she has expressed her pride at all her daughter has achieved at the Rose of Tralee Festival. 

Shauna, mother to three-year-old Emmy, is the daughter of Angela Ray and the late Francis Lacey who passed away five years ago. 

The 24-year-old stole the hearts of the nation on Monday night with her open and frank interview around her parents' drug addiction and how her mother overcame it to be in Emmy's life.

Shauna also praised the work of the charity Lá Nua - which supports people in recovery - during her speech to the crowds gathered on Tullow Street.
