Jim McAndrew, RIP

A Memorial 5km Walk/Run will be held this Friday, August 31 for Jim McAndrew who passed away in May of this year.

Organiser, Martin McAndrew, brother of Jim, said: "My brother was living in the UK and myself and my mother went over to visit him for four days and he left our hotel room to go home to his partner and never made it home.

"We got a phone call then at 5am afterwards to say he was in hospital and he was on a life support machine in a UK hospital. He only lasted two days and he died. We don't really know what happened him."

Jim, 34, was living in Leeds, England and formerly of John Sweeney Park, Tullow Road, Carlow and Tullow.

He passed away suddenly and was beloved son of Margaret, cherished partner of Emma, adored father of Scott and a much loved brother.

All proceeds from the run/walk will go to the Kevin Bell Foundation.

Martin added: "They helped us out big time, took the stress of my family in getting Jim home."

The run is starting from the Carlow Hurling Club and it starts at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome.

People can make a donation on the day.
