A fundraising page has been set up for 7-year-old Callie Kavanagh who was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in May of this year.

Callie from Bennekerry is currently undergoing treatment in Crumlin Children's Hospital and she is the only daughter of Shauna and Adam and sister to Rían and Donagh.

A GoFundMe page set up for Callie states: "She loves playing with her friends, singing and dancing. She's a great little girl, full of smiles despite what she has to go through.

"Her mother Shauna has taken time off work to look after while she undergoes her treatment. Fundraising is to support Callie and her family financially during this difficult time and if possible to bring Callie to Disney World when she is better."

Almost €20,000 has been raised by 177 people in 5 days out of a target of €15,000.

Ewing's Sarcoma is a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone or in soft tissue.

Cllr Andrea Dalton said: "Please support the Kavanagh Family and brave little Callie. Her mam Shauna is a life long friend of mine. Please like and share to help ease their financial burden as Shauna takes time out of work to support and mind Callie."
