One vacant IDA Ireland site and it is in Bagenalstown and is described as "marketable"
There were only three IDA site visits in Carlow in first six months of this year compared to 14 in Waterford, new figures from the Government have revealed.
Fianna Fáil TD Mary Butler asked the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation about the number of IDA visits to counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford.
Minister Heather Humphreys provided details on the the number of IDA Ireland site visits to the counties in Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 of 2018.
The counties included: Carlow (3), Kilkenny (2), Tipperary (2), Waterford (14), Wexford (1).
There is one vacant IDA Ireland site and it is in Bagenalstown and is described as "marketable".
In a written response, the Minister said: "IDA Ireland’s South-East Region consists of counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and South Tipperary.
"Foreign direct investment (FDI) in that region is increasing, with IDA Ireland client companies having created over 1,200 new jobs last year.
"Total employment in overseas companies there now stands at approximately 15,000 across 75 client companies."
Carlow has six IDA supported multinationals and they include: MSD International Gmbh, Carlow Branch and Autolaunch Limited.
