Carlow Rose Shauna Ray Lacey won a 30 under 30 award in the Social Contribution and Activism category at the prestigious U Magazine showcase in Dublin on Tuesday night. 

The 'Mother Rose' Shauna took to the stage at the Dome in Tralee earlier this year and won the support of the nation as she opened up about her parents’ struggle with heroin addiction and the impact it had on her life.

The 24-year-old also received praise - along with her mother Angie - for an interview on the Late Late Show in recent weeks.

The hosts for the 30 under 30 awards Aisling O'Toole and James Kavanagh at the event in Dublin's Iveagh Garden Hotel.

In a post on Facebook after she won the award, Shauna said: "Can’t believe it, well done to all the nominees. 

"What an award for my social contribution and activism, over the moon."
