Councillor hits out over 'equine industry' being run in middle of Carlow housing estate
'Horses roaming around estates' prompts calls for enforcement action

'Horses roaming around estates', says councillor
A councillor has hit out over an "equine industry" being run in middle of Carlow housing estate.
Cllr Fintan Phelan raised the issue at a recent meeting of Carlow County Council and while he did not name the specific estate, he said: "There's one case in Carlow Town where an equine industry is being run in the middle of a housing estate and it's not acceptable.
"We need to take enforcement action. Residents' lives are being made stressful by it and we have to get tough. There are horses roaming around estates."
Cllr John Cassin supported the comments of Cllr Phelan.
The Council said there is legislation is place around the control of horses and they have been active on such issues.
