Carlow's chief executive and Cathaoirleach invited to Ploughing Championships banquet

The venue for the 2019 National Ploughing Championships is expected to be announced on the day

Is this a big clue that the Ploughing Championships is coming to Carlow?

The chief executive of Carlow County Council, Kathleen Holohan and the Cathaoirleach, Cllr Brian O'Donoghue, have been invited to the National Ploughing Championships prize winners' banquet this Sunday in the Bridge House, Tullamore in Offaly.

It's expected that the venue for the 2019 Ploughing Championships will be announced on the day.  

A spokesperson for the NPC, said: "It's not set in stone but the plan is to announce this Sunday at the prize winners' banquet."

Anna May McHugh - managing director of the National Ploughing Association - gave a talk in the Ballon Community Centre on Wednesday night as part of R-Innovate Rural Network Events.

She spoke glowingly about Carlow's three-time World Ploughing Champion, Eamonn Tracey, whom she described as "our man" and said it was "emotional" to see him winning his latest World crown in Germany this year.
