Overall there were 609 teacher retirements nationwide last year
There have been 28 primary school teacher retirements in Carlow since 2015 while seven principals have retired, new figures have revealed.
In a written response to a Parliamentary Question from Fianna Fáil's Mary Butler, the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton, outlined the figures for the number of teaching principals and primary school teachers who have retired or left their post by county between 2015 and 2017.
Overall there were 609 teacher retirements nationwide last year with 13 of these coming from Carlow.
While there were 181 principal retirements in 2017 with five of these in Carlow.
