The demonstration will be held at the Liberty Tree in Carlow Town

A public demonstration is planned for Carlow this Saturday in light of the ongoing CervicalCheck scandal.

In a post on the event page on Facebook, one organiser said: "Women's lives count...I'm sure every one of you know what has happened over the last while regarding our cervical tests etc, now we hear lots of files and evidence was shredded, legally.

"This is the most vile attack on the women of Ireland.

"Please turn up to show your support."

Organisers have also asked if people could bring a red rose, flower or a red balloon.

They added: "We will turn the fountain red as a symbol."

The demonstration will begin at 12.30pm.
