A youth who stole medical supplies - including a gas cylinder - from a vehicle at St Dympna's Hospital in Carlow - later threw the cylinder against a wall causing it to explode.
The car was broken into on October 11 and medical supplies in the vehicle were stolen.
Gardaí following up on the theft detected a youth acting suspiciously on Montgomery Street shortly after 10pm on the same date.
The 15-year-old was in possession of a gas cylinder stolen from the medical vehicle outside St Dympna's Hospital and he threw it against a wall causing it to explode.
The youth was taken into custody in relation to the offences.
