Gardaí issue appeal for information after man is assaulted in Bagenalstown

The victim was asked for a cigarette prior to the attack

Gardaí have issued an appeal for information after a 21-year-old man was assaulted in Bagenalstown on Tuesday night. 

The assault occurred on the Royal Oak Road at 10.15pm when a car stopped and the occupant asked the victim for a cigarette. 

During the incident the culprit punched the victim and the injured party received minor injuries. 

The assailant was driving a silver vehicle.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the area at that time or who may have seen anything in relation to the assault.
