Incidents of drink-driving on the rise in Carlow as Gardaí issue appeal to motorists

Drink driving offences have increased this year

Incidents of drink-driving are on the rise in Carlow and Gardaí have issued an appeal to motorists to stop committing the offence. 

Superintendent of the Carlow District, Aidan Brennan, has said that there were 85 incidents of drink-driving between January and September of this year compared to 81 for the same period last year. 

Supt Brennan added that "incidents of drink-driving are on the up" as he highlighted the dangers of it and how it can impair your driving. 

He urged motorists to stop committing the offence. 

Carlow Gardaí carried out 53 Mandatory Alcohol Test checkpoints in September with 570 drivers tested for drink-driving.
