Carlow County Council is encouraging people to use dog fouling bins recently installed in the town as part of their #pickitup campaign.

Nine dog fouling bins have been installed in Carlow Town. Locations were selected following surveys carried out by staff and volunteers.

Receptacles are located at the following locations: Kilkenny Road, Green Road, Athy Road, Cannery Road, Green lane (outside St Mary's cemetery) side, Dublin Road, O'Brien Road (St Laurence O'Toole side), O'Brien Road (Ashgrove Estate side) and Carpenters Way.

Bins were erected on a three-month trial basis and are being maintained by a private contractor. Following this trial, seven bins will remain in situ. One is to be relocated due to dumping issues and one is being monitored.

Funding is currently being assessed for additional bins for communities around the county, but these bins cannot be erected until maintenance issues are addressed.
