Gardaí investigated 210 incidents of drugs possession for personal use in Carlow up to September of this year.
The figures for the first nine months of this year were higher than the total amount of similar incidents in 2017 when there were 205 incidents in all investigated for drugs possession for personal use.
Superintendent Aidan Brennan said the increase is due to "greater enforcement".
Meanwhile there were 46 incidents of possession of drugs for sale/supply compared to 39 in the same period last year and 29 between January and September of 2013.
