Celebrity chefs, Martin Shanahan and Rachel Allen, have just unveiled what they’ll be cooking and baking as the count-down to this year’s long-awaited Carlow Culinary Christmas programme at Visual from December 6 to 8 continues.
Tickets for Rachel Allen’s demonstration on middle night, Friday, December 7, are almost completely sold out.
And seats for Martin Shanahan on the previous evening, Thursday, December 6, and the side-splitting celebrity cook off on the final evening are booking up fast.
Martin Shanahan opens proceedings with his Culinary Christmas offerings which include Seafood Crumble, Mediterranean Hake, mouth-watering Mussels, Chorizo, Shallots and Parsley and a magnificent Monkfish Pil Pil.
He finishes his demo with his own take on a family favourite, Gratin of Smoked Haddock and Spinach.
Rachel Allen’s Friday night show will equip attendees with everything they need to wow family and friends and includes fabulous food from sumptuous starters to delightful desserts, and everything in between.
She will make Brown Soda Scones, Smoked Salmon Pate, Celeriac Soup with Roasted Hazelnut and Avocado Salsa as well as roast root vegetables and glazed Brussels Sprouts.
The aroma of pan-fried duck breasts with Redcurrant Jelly Sauce, Mincemeat Crumble Cake and Chocolate Christmas Tree will have demo-goers eager for more as they spill out into the food hall afterwards.
The third and final night features what promises to be a hilarious evening with funny men Karl Spain and Gearoid Farrelly.
The MC is Chef Adrian. He will hand the celebrities – who also include Rachel Doyle and Ed Cahill - a bag of mystery ingredients and let them work their magic within a limited cooking time.
