IDA Ireland has selected a suitable site for an Advanced Technology Building (ATB) in Carlow and is currently in the process of acquiring this as part of its Regional Property Programme, a Government Minsiter has confirmed.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, said following successful acquisition, planning permission will be lodged and construction will begin in 2019, subject to planning permission being granted.

Minister Humphreys was responding to a Parliamentary Question from Carlow TD, Pat Deering, who asked about the "status of the provision of the advanced IDA facility in Carlow; the timescale for the commencement and completion of the project".

The Minister added: "As part of its €150m Regional Property Programme the IDA is directly investing in a building programme to help ensure property solutions are in place for overseas companies considering investing or expanding, thereby encouraging more foreign direct investment in regional locations.

"This programme includes the construction of an Advance Technology Building (ATB) in Carlow."
